Pizza Tours Are A Slice Of Heaven

When it comes to pizza, I am a no limit soldja.

From Totino’s to gourmet pizzas with the fancy toppings, give me all the pies. So when I heard my first outing on my selfish solo mom trip to Florida (stay tuned for that post!) was a birthday “pizza tour” for a friend of my parents, you can imagine my elation.

Now, you might be thinking to yourself, “What is a pizza tour?” It sounds super important and official, but any red-blooded pizza-lover can organize the perfect pizza tour for any occasion. Read on to learn how to plan your Inaugural Pizza Tour.

Choose Several Pizza Places

The sky is the limit here. Pick a few pizza places you’ve always wanted to try or your favorite pizzerias.

If you’re indecisive, download the Slice App and find local hidden gems.

The birthday girl chose a few of her favorites and a couple new places to try. She did some heavy-duty research and picked places with the most stars. Our first stop was Bambini’s Garden Pizzeria in Delray Beach. They didn’t have beer, but their veggie pizza was super tasty. I’ve never had asparagus or zucchini on a pizza and I must say, it was a pleasant surprise. Plus, it was 11:30 a.m. and I have a strict “no drinking before noon” policy.

Won’t I Get Sick Of Eating Pizza?

Clearly, if you’re asking this question, you’ve come to the wrong blog. Go up to the X in the top right corner of your computer and please leave. Come back when you’ve come to your senses.

If you’re still reading, congratulations. You are amongst friends. The beauty of a pizza tour is that you can pace yourself. Order by the slice or get a small pizza and share.

Our journey led us to Cafe Frankie’s next. Aside from the mushrooms, which I loathe with every fiber of my being almost as much as sour cream, everything about this pizza was perfect. The crust, the sauce, the fire-roasted tomatoes, everything was on point. It received the most votes for “Pizza Place of the Day” from our little group of pizza connoisseurs. Plus, they had alcohol.

Pizza Tour Strategery: Map it Out

We started up in Delray Beach and made our way toward “The Ave” as the locals call it. Once you’ve made your location decisions, map out the best route, so you’re not wasting gas or Uber funds.

Stop number three took us to Josie’s Ristorante. We ordered a small pizza with caramelized onions, goat cheese, and tomatoes. I’m not a huge goat cheese person, but like I said, I’m a pizza soldier.

Next, we headed toward Conte’s Pizza. I must warn you, there isn’t alcohol there, either. However, because Florida is cool, pretty much everywhere is B.Y.O.B. So we walked down the street and got us some adult beverages to enjoy with our Salad Pizza and the special broccoli pizza the owner made especially for the birthday girl, Holly. He even played the Beatles’ “You Say It’s Your Birthday” on his phone.

The last stop, where more friends joined us, was Windy City Pizza. After all the veggie pizzas, my dad and I decided it was time for some meat. I don’t know if it was the beer or what, but the pepperoni was outstanding.

You can’t go wrong with the jalapeno and onion, either.

In summation, this was an enlightening experience, one I will cherish forever. I know what I’m doing for my birthday this year and every year for the rest of my life.
